The January Steam Gala on the GCR, featuring as always two guest locos... "Spamcan" 34072 257 Squadron and BR Standard 80080. Another good day on the railway and unique... nothing went wrong and the timetable never fell apart!!

Brambling at Calke Abbey: January 2022

It's good to see the Brambling, a winter visitor, showing at Calke Abbey this year... there only seems to be the one pair there, butit appears less have ventured over to the UK this winter, though there are reports of significant flocks elsewhere in the country

These shots are from the two trips to Calke during January, and start with a set of the female... a paler less strikingly coloured bird... then a set of the more colourful and flambouyant male
