Farne Isles, Inner Farne June 1st 2017

Inner Farne is the Island closest to the mainland, and like Staple Island, is home to 10's of thousands of seabirds in the summer breeding season. The spread of species is similar to Staple Island, but with far far more Terns. The speciality of the Island is the Arxtic Tern, most graceful of seabirds.

The Arxtic Tern is, however, a plucky bird, and will defend it's nest and young aggressively against all comers, and as they are prone to nest within inches of the footpaths, and sometimes on the footpaths, it is always advisable to wear a hat on the Island as trespassing visitors will be dive bombed and pecked at every opportunity.
