Welney Wetland Trust 17th November 2016

Welney Wetland Trust is located in the Fens, and is a natural home for many waterfowl. Most importantly over winter it is home to thousands of Whooper Swans and a healthy population of Bewick Swans. There are also huge numbers of, in particular, Wigeon, as well as Pochard and Mallard. Like all such wetland reserves, many other species are likely to appear at any time, but without doubt, the wintering swans are the most significant populations there;

The following is a selection of the shots taken on the day...

Pintail - I was especially happy to get this shot as it was my first Pintail photographed.

Wigeon

Canada Geese.
Bottom feeding birds can be elegant and beautiful, but when diving to feed from the bottom can look wonderfully inelegant

Whooper Swan:
Swans, like Geese, are beautifully elegant birds, as shown in the shots above, when in the water or flying... however.. between those two conditions... perhaps it's a different story...

Pochard
